As for World of Warcraft Rogues, Lockpicking is one of the most valuable group and raid skills available. That is to say, Rogue offer Lockpicking useful skill to other players in the World of Warcraft.
As the name suggests, Lockpicking allows Rogues to pick locks that keep doors, chests, or other objects such as the lockboxes closed.
The Lockpicking skill has both advantage and disadvantage. It works well, but the problem with lockpicking is raising it. It is often a boring and tedious process. For Horde and Alliance, the following steps will detail one way for Horde players will find the following guide useful to raise their lockpicking skill and the Alliance Rogue to raise his lockpicking skills to benefit himself and his fellow players.
On the one hand, for the Horde Rogue Lockpicking quest, it involves feeding parrot crackers. (No, the author is not joking.) A series of lockboxes can be found in a ship off the coast of Ratchet. A rogue should open the practice lockboxes until he can no longer gain skill ups from them and then open the final chest. The final chest has the item that will let the rogue complete the quest.
On the other hand, Horde Rogues want to raise their Lockpicking skill, it needs a locked chest. Opening the chest will give a Rogue skill increases to 175. Characters doing this quest at low levels should bring along a friend to keep the nearby boss away from them.
As your Lockpicking gets to around 150 or so, the skill leveling will be slow. Boxes that you pick out of pockets are very green, so you won't get skill ups from them very often, and the next pickable boxes need a 175 skill.
So getting to 175 might take awhile. If you're up for a swim then you can try the sunken footlockers off the Naga area of Sar'theris Strand in Desolace (bring your Elixer of Water Breathing.)
And also you have the choice of looting the footlockers in the upstairs area of Angor Fortress in the Badlands (the upper floor footlockers require a skill of 155, the lower floor footlockers require 175+.)
One you hit 175+ you can go to the lower level of Angor (for dented footlockers) or swim a bit deeper off Sartheris Strand (for mossy footlockers.)
At 175+ you can also start picking pockets for higher level junkboxes. Since you're going to be killing piles of thee guys anyway you might as well check their pockets first, right? This will get you to well over 200 skills.
Using Rogue Lockpicking skill, the door guard the entrance to the Armory and the Cathedral of Scarlet Monastery can be opened, but one skill up per door may be obtained per door every five minutes. This effect can be countered by entering an instance and resetting it. Caution is required when using this method or the guardians of the monastery on the outside of the instance may aggro the rogue.
Besides reset the instance, the Horde Rogue wish to do something else, he can go into the library or graveyard of Scarlet Cathedral and pickpocket mobs for lockboxes. When the Rogue has had his fill of pickpocketing or has pilfered several lockboxes, he can go back to the doors and unlock them again.
